Playing around with buttons

I have so many beautiful buttons, some from my grandmother others I have collected from opp shops or bought at clearing sales. They are so wasted in my 100's of jars on the shelf so I have been experimenting with glue and making some jewellery. I know there are so many people making button jewellery but I dont think I could sell mine. I made these 3 brooches this week and have found that even though the glue dries clear you can still see it if you are a little sloppy. The green one is my favourite so far and no glue mess! I have a ring drying at the moment, and would like to make a few pendants. I am also going to do some stichery wall hangings with lots of vintage flower buttons.

Penny Rugs new for sunweeds

I made this cute MOO card holder this week, it's already been through the wash once I forgot to take it out of my pocket On the colour bath theme this week, we had a little too much green in the bath last night the girls have green fingernails today... I think it's pink tonight! This is a Penny Rug I made for a custom order on Madeit. In the 1800s, starting around the time of the Civil War, thrifty homemakers would use scraps of wool or felted wool from old clothing, blankets and hats to create designs for mats or rugs. Using coins as templates, they created circles and each piece was then hand stitched. I love old fashioned things and this is my take on the traditional penny circles... flowers of course. I am going to be working on lots more of these, I'm loving working with felt, I plan to do themed ones with matching button and felt flowers. Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, Seasons etc coming soon!

Mothers Day craft day

Tylden Primary School fair, we spent all day there yesterday, the kids and Mr Sunweeds enjoying the sunshine and rides. I helped out on the curry stall which sold out early which left me a little time for browsing and getting some second hand bargains. I decided for Mothers Day I would spend the day doing crafty type things, I've been continuing on the Penny rug that I am making. I made a cute bow from the tutorial hereFinished some felt flowers too. The girls had a blue bath after seeing this blog and a purple one the night before. I think they want red tonight, it might look a little scary I think I will take another photo
