Organising Penny's 3rd Birthday

~These are my free MOO cards I ordered when they had their special on, I just had to pay for postage... they worked well i think!~ These are for Penny's 3rd birthday on Good Friday. I have been loving looking at all the party decorating blogs lately and I have decided to do a few easy low budget decoration ideas. These are chinese takeaway boxes from the $2 shop, I am going to use these instead of lolly bags. The flowers are hand drawn on coloured cardboard, with glitter glue and a chupa chup stuck through a hole in the middle.

Hollyhocks

I've always wanted to grow hollyhocks and I have tried for years, the slugs love the seedlings, the kids trample them, the dogs eat them. Then this year I grew these... love them!

Felt birthday crowns

I'm making some felt flower crowns for Penny's birthday which is Good Friday this year. I thought we could use these instead of party hats and it is an extra item for the girls to keep with their lolly bags.
I'm very excited to let you know that I have been featured on the wonderful Violets ArtShuShus blog here she has the most delightful blog ... go take a look. The paintings in her Etsy shop are gorgeous check them out too while your over there.

Autumn flower Festival, Macedon Gardens

It was the Macedon Autumn Flower show yesterday hot on the heels of the kyneton show last week... with that unbelievable hail storm in between. I think the children and I had 35 entries all together. We did very well the children got 1st and 2nds for their floral saucers, botanical drawings, floral cards and posies.
Above is an Amaranthus grown from seed, my entry into the annual section, they are growing like huge monsters in my garden at the moment, like "the day of the triffids" this is just one branch from the bush it won, 1st prize in the annual section, Champion annual, and grand champion cut flower! I also got grand champion and aggregate in the fruit section, and aggregate in the perennial section. For the first time I also won Grand aggregate winner (the most points in the whole show) yipee!!!! More pics tomorrow of the childrens entries and ribbons, Wendy has taken hers to school today to show them off at assembly :) she is singing in the choir at assembly today too!

Rain, Hail and Macedon flower show

We were in melbourne for the freaky hail storm on the weekend. luckily my Kyneton flower show flowers were already picked, but it's going to be slim pickings for this weekends Mount Macedon Autumn Flower Show.

Winnings in the Autumn Flower show

Well we all did well in the kyneton autumn Flower Show, I had 25 entries getting 7 first, and 6 2nds mostly in the roses and cut flower sections. I won a beautiful book for being aggregate in the rose section, and a ribbon for best exhibit in the fruit and vegetable section with my harvest basket:)
