The goose/ chook paddock and orchard

The goose/ chook paddock and orchard, looking forward to lots of fruit this year. The apricots and cherries usually do well, we have lots of old apple varieties, plums, nectarine, pears, crab apples, quince, lots of strawberries and a medlar.

Spring flowers

A few of the first Spring flowers

fairy tree

Our fairy tree is in full bloom, it always puts on a great display and smells wonderful. Pale pink petals cover the ground and float around the childrens cubby.

New gravel...

New gravel... As you can tell by the path we have been putting off buying gravel for one reason or another for quite a while. I'm so happy to finally start putting some down, and with a huge load of mulch the garden beds that are made will finally look finished. The gravel paths go all the way around the house to help protect the house in case of bush fires.

button dyeing

I have so many off white pale buttons, this is just a few. Forest green Dylon dye The results are amazing. A few of my faves. I did some button dyeing today, a friend of mine Liz from hundreds of buttons told me about her experiments with button dyeing. I would never have thought of it, but now all those boring off white, and other light colours are now getting a new lease on life. Today I tried forest green, differing lengths of time, heat and dye powder with stunning effects.
