This is our kidney shaped garden, you can see it in the last post to the right of the boomerang garden, the gravel is the path from our front gate to the main steps by the front door. In the above photo (2004)you can compare the next photos by the pencil pine left and the bird bath, all still in the same spots now. (above) looking the other way (above)2008 note pencil pine left and bird bath front
OK I promised before and after photo's of our garden. So I'm slowly sorting through the photo's some are before digital cameras so it gets a little tricky. This is our boomerang garden on the front corner of our house in 2006, our house faces north so the whole garden is in full sun most of the day That stick in the middle is a Crab Apple This is the boomerang garden taken last Spring 2008, the crab apple is on the left in this photo

OK for those of you that don't know We live in central Victoria, Australia. We are just starting our Winter and have been in a drought for years. We live on 10 acres of bush with approx 3 acres of garden. We are in a high bushfire area and our property has been burnt once before we built our house, we lost a small shed that we used for camping in on weekends, and the start of our orchard. our camping shed after the fire a view of our property and dam we were building a large garage when the fire went through and the same week got the power put on, this is the trench for the power, it was like being on the moonthis is our house in the first winter, not quite finished but getting there. We built our house here in 1999 after living in our garage on the property for 18 months. We have built a small miners cottage with lots of verandah space. Before and after pictures of the garden coming up next.
It is slowly starting to look like Winter now, the Autumn leaves are almost gone, the roses desperately need to be pruned and we have actually had some rain. Not that annoying drizzly stuff but decent large drops. these are the moths that come with the autumn/winter first heavy rain, I think they are Bogong Moths and we only see them once at this time of year they are huge (hand size) and they drive the dogs crazy fluttering against the windows at night Every year I try to be a bit trendy and leave the old flowers of the sedum unpruned and get that dried off look with the frost covering them, I've seen lots of the famous garden photo's where they do this for winter interest in the garden. But I usually can't stand it after a few weeks of looking dead I clean them up, they are still there so far! We have fairies in our garden, having 3 girls it was bound to happen, we have a fairy garden, numerous statues some the girls can move around to where they like, these tend to have broken arms or head injuries
I made a business page on Face book yesterday and sent invites for fans to all my friends, at least 1/3 have joined so far and then I send a thank you, so a bit of free advertising not too bad. I think these turned out great, my friend made them for me and she has been posting them everywhere on face book and stirring up some interest. Thanks Laura Indie Collective accepted me on their great website today too! Indie Collective is a showcase of independent artists, artisans, & designers
